Powerboat courses

Learn how to perfectly operate a powerboat with Les Corsaires in Geneva!

Les Corsaires - Geneva - boat rental

As with a driving course, these lessons are solely individual and custom designed. They take place every day of the year in good comfortable conditions, with a sheltered and heated wheelhouse in winter, which doubles as a dry location with shade in summer.

Minimum equipment required, such as trainers (sneakers) with non-marking soles and, depending on the weather, warm clothes or rainwear, a sun hat and sunglasses. The wide range of courses are for beginners as well as for those who have already taken the introductory course; no previous experience is required.

The course includes the introduction of the terminology and preparation of the boat, i.e. rigging and undocking. The nautical terms are then clearly defined. Before boarding, the subject of safety on board is discussed in detail.

Then comes the practical side, learning how to navigate at full speed and setting a course, all rounded off by mastering the art of tacking and gybing. There are four types of boat (option of electric or gasoline motor), with a sheltered and heated wheelhouse.

The type of powerboat used for the courses is the "Merry-Fisher", which is 5.22 m x 2.28 m, 800 kg, with an outboard motor of 75 hp.

The solar system at Les Corsaires school on the hut of the rental office is a pioneer in the region and is sufficient to recharge the batteries of the electric boats. Since 1998, solar energy has been used to power the motors of the boats. This ecological and inexpensive solution produces results that are ideally suited to their use and has a knock-on effect on prices that is particularly advantageous.
